Congratulations to Hanoi University of Science and Technology for being nominated as Chair, and Hanoi University of Mining and Geology, Hoa Sen University and Industrial University Ho Chi Minh City to the advisory board of the UK Vietnam Higher Education Network. The nomination for Co-Chair will be conducted at the next Network Strategic Meeting in the UK in November 2019. The network’s expected vision is to strengthen higher education partnerships between the UK and Vietnam through diverse policy dialogues and impact-led partnership projects.
The UK Vietnam Higher Education Network was formally launched by Vice Minister, Associate Professor Nguyen Van Phuc during the UK Vietnam Higher Education Collaboration forum in October 2018. The network includes more than 60 UK and Vietnamese universities, organisations and businesses who together deliver 12 partnerships in four key areas of priorities (university leadership and governance, transnational education and quality assurance, university industry link and research and mobility). The first official meeting between leaders of Vietnamese universities in the network was held on 6 June 2019 in Ho Chi Minh City and resulted in fruitful outcomes in terms of the network governance (chart below) and future plans.
The network’s leadership team will work closely with the British Council and Ministry of Education and Training to deliver a series of activities that strengthen higher education partnerships between the two countries, and which tentatively include:
|1||July 2019 - March 2020||Impact Acceleration Scheme||Vietnam/UK|
|2||September/October 2019||National Seminar on Quality Assurance for Transnational Education (TNE)||Vietnam|
|3||November 2019||UK study tour and Network Strategic Meeting||UK|
|4||November/December 2019||National seminar on Entrepreneurship, Creativity and Innovation||Vietnam|
|5||February 2020||'Sharing Success' Dissemination Workshop||Vietnam|
The UK Vietnam Higher Education Network was established under the commitment to support Vietnam in its efforts to internationalise higher education through the UK Vietnam Higher Education Partnership (UK-VN HEP). The initiative was supported by Ministry of Education and Training, and was one of the highlight activities in the signed Appendix to the MOC between the British Council and Ministry of Education and Training in 2018.
