The British Council in Vietnam offers these IELTS tests: IELTS Academic, IELTS General Training and IELTS for UK visas and immigration (IELTS UKVI).

Steps for your British Council IELTS registration
- Make sure you have a form of valid ID card or Passport at hand when you book your test. Please note that candidates under 18 years of age must be registered by their legal parent or guardian and have consent from their parent or guardian in order to leave exam premises alone on the test day. - See the IELTS test terms and conditions and Information for Candidates , which contains important information about the test format, the question types and the British Council IELTS exam results. Please note that IELTS is not recommended for test takers under the age of 16.
- You have 24 hours to complete your registration and payment otherwise your registration will be automatically cancelled. Candidates can choose from these options to pay for your test: pay by cash at British Council offices, via card/debit card (VISA/Mastercard) through our online registration system, or via bank transfer.
- After successful registration, the British Council encourages candidates to recheck the information you have registered by logging into your exam registration account following the video instructions . If you need to change your registered information, please notify the British Council at least 04 working days before your test date for assistance.

Pay your IELTS booking fee
After completing IELTS registration on the British Council’s system, candidates can choose between two following payment options:
Pay online: pay via online payment methods
- PayDollar: via VISA credit card/ Mastercard
- ATM: via local ATM card
- VietQR: via scanning QR code by using bank application or E-wallets.
Offline payment: pay via bank transfer (detailed instructions on page 6) or via point of sale (POS) directly at the British Council’s offices in:
- Hanoi: First floor, British Council, 20 Thuy Khue street, Tay Ho district.
- HCMC: First floor, Viettel Building, 285 Cach Mang Thang Tam street, ward 12, district 10.
Notice: Candidates are successfully registered for an IELTS test the British Council once completing payment. The British Council will send booking confirmation to the registered email address of candidates.

IELTS test date confirmation
Once you have completed the IELTS booking process, you will receive a confirmation of completion of IELTS registration and acceptance of application. You will also receive the access to the full IELTS preparation materials to support you with your IELTS test.
Your IELTS Speaking test may be scheduled on the same day as other parts of the exam, or on a different day within a seven-day window before or after your main test date. The test centre will send you a confirmation for the Speaking test date.
