Can you share your personal journey into STEM field and what inspired you to choose this education path?
My journey wasn't straightforward from the start. I was influenced by the stereotype that STEM was too difficult for girls – that we should leave these fields to boys. I threw myself into Literature, competing and excelling in that subject, until I met my Biology teacher in high school. She seeded a love for Biology in my heart. But I still hesitated, wrestling with uncertainty until the final three months of senior year, when everyone else had already chosen their major. It was one of the hardest decisions I've ever made, but also one of the best. I found myself immersed in a field I truly loved, discovering a passion for science and a desire to make a meaningful contribution.
Are there any challenges or achievements that you would like to share with us while pursuing your STEM journey?
The most difficult challenge was the moment I decided to jump from social science to natural science. After that, I had to study intensively to make up for the knowledge I had missed. But it was nothing compared to finding my passion. I had the opportunity to learn not only knowledge but also skills that opened many doors for me. I can confidently and proudly say that this decision has brought me opportunities to visit at least four countries and learn from people all over the world. I think without that key moment of determination, I would never have become the person I am today, and I cherish every part of that journey.
Are there any tips or personal experience that you would like to share?
Just strive for it. If you put in the effort, you might succeed or you might not, but if you don't try at all, you definitely won’t have any opportunity. I believe that people with genuine passion, social responsibility, and a desire to make a difference will always be recognised in their own way. Take that brave step, learn from those who've walked this path before you, and you'll be amazed by what you discover along the way.
How do you feel when you receive the scholarship and how has it helped to open doors for you?
I am incredibly grateful to receive this scholarship. It is not just an opportunity to enhance my professional knowledge but also a chance to share my passion and inspire others who are exploring STEM as a potential path. I believe that as more women join STEM fields, we will see breakthrough achievements in science and technology that will help develop our country and contribute to global progress.
What would you say to yourself ten years back about pursuing your passion?
I would tell myself to just go for it, take those steps, and dare to make the change as soon as possible. I went through a difficult time changing my major focus, so I deeply understand the challenge of starting late. That is also one of the reasons I want to share my story through this scholarship – to encourage and inspire young people considering STEM, so they have more time to develop in their dream field without the same struggles I faced.
