Frequently asked questions

Can I get additional copies of my IELTS results?

IELTS test takers can request the IELTS test centre to send electronic results or send additional copies to a recognising organisation in addition to the original TRF within 2 years from your test date. The service is free of administration fee but you need to pay the airmail postage cost or international courier fee for each additional copy for distribution

You need to provide the institution’s address and fill in the “Application for Additional Test Report Form”. Please use this form  for Hanoi and this form  for HCMC, attach your proof of payment and email the documentation to exams.hanoi@britishcouncil.org.vn (Hanoi) or exams.hcmc@britishcouncil.org.vn (HCMC).

We will then send the TRF directly to the institution.

Please note an additional Test Report Form request takes around 5 days to be processed.

Please refer to IELTS TRF Distribution Policy for more information.

If your test centre has been closed, you can order additional test report forms from ielts.org.

What does my IELTS score mean?

You will be awarded an IELTS band score from 0-9 for each section of the test. Band scores reflect your proficiency in English.

In addition to showing a score for each of the four skills (IELTS Listening, IELTS Reading, IELTS Writing and IELTS Speaking), your TRF also shows an overall IELTS band score.

You can score whole band scores (for example 5.0, 6.0, 7.0) or half band scores (e.g. 5.5, 6.5, 7.5) in each section of the test as well as overall

Find out more about what your IELTS score means here.

How long are my IELTS results valid for?

Organisations will not usually accept your results if they are more than two years old, unless you provide evidence that you have actively maintained or tried to improve your English since taking the test. The IELTS Partners cannot confirm the validity of test results that are more than two years old.

How can I get my IELTS test re-marked?
