The event marks the start of the three-year-project Cultural and Creative Hubs Vietnam, funded by the European Union and implemented by the British Council in partnership with the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts Studies, between 2018 and 2021.
The Project will be implemented across Vietnam with activities focusing on a network of Cultural and Creative Hubs that are actively engaged with practitioners and the audiences in the field of arts, culture, and creativity. A Cultural and Creative Hub is a place, physical or virtual, which brings people together to express artistic ideas and creativity in an open and nurturing environment, and in turn allows them to share a variety of artistic outputs with their communities. Culture is an enabler and driver of sustainable development, a way of engaging communities in shaping our shared future and supporting open, inclusive and stable societies. In Vietnam, Cultural and Creative Hubs have the potential to be important players in the cultural sector, and have great potential for engaging in and supporting artistic expression and creativity, as well as Vietnamese people’s access to high quality and diverse cultural activities.
The launch event will present to the audiences the hearts and minds behind the arts, cultural, and creative landscape of Vietnam and their recent work, as well as an introduction of the series of activities that have been designed to support and promote artistic expressions and creativity in Vietnam. Information shared in the launch event will facilitate active engagement and collaboration of artists, cultural workers, and creative practitioners from all of Vietnam. The event is organised by the British Council in partnership with the Vietnam National Institute of Culture and Arts Studies, with financial support from the European Union.
