British Council Global Art Competition 2014

Every year, the British Council organises a global art competition in over 100 countries around the world which is judged in London, UK. In 2011, the winner was Nguyễn Song Anh, an 8 year-old, from Ho Chi Minh City! This year, we have a new theme for the competition.

Theme: My country’s landmarks

Age groups: 8 and under, 9 – 11 and 12 – 15

Prizes:

  • There will be prizes for the winning picture and runners-up in each age group.
  • The three winners (one from each age group) will then have the chance to enter their picture into the global young learners’ art competition in London in October 2014, involving students from all over the world.
  • The three winning pictures and nine runners-up from the global competition will feature in promotional materials and on the British Council website.

How to take part

  • Students must create a postcard style snap-shot of a famous landmark in their country.
  • Entries should be between A4 and A3 size and art materials should be used that give strong colours and lines, such as paint, pastels, collage or wax crayons. Anything bright and strong – coloured pencils are too faint.
  • Entrants must make up a title for their picture (the theme is not the title).
  • On the back of each entry, entrants should write the title of their picture, their name, their age and the name of the teaching centre (British Council Ho Chi Minh City). Please double check that the information is correct and clear.
