The British Council in Vietnam is a priority country for the British Council within East Asia. We engage with nearly 15 million people a year through activity across three strategic business units: Education and Society, English and Exams and the Arts. Our work focuses on increasing prosperity in Vietnam by supporting reform of the education system to meet the needs of the 21st century, up-skilling social and arts entrepreneurs, and supporting government policy.We have two centres in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, with two additional branch teaching centres in each.The total turnover of the Vietnam operation is approximately fifteen million pounds and it employs around 200 full time staff in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City.
Join a large and dynamic multinational organisation and lead an HR team in this new job opportunity as Head of HR for British Council Vietnam, based in Hanoi. Our Vietnamese business is going through an organisational change and needs a Head of HR who can manage a large volume of work covering all aspects of Human Resources.
As the Head of HR you will be responsible for a wide range of work including setting the HR strategy (including budgets and people plans) for our operations in Vietnam. You will work to resolve complex and sensitive employee relations issues, lead the performance management and talent management processes, coordinate recruitment and work with regional colleagues on a range of projects and collaborations.Working with colleagues at a regional level you will enable our Vietnamese business to excel by coaching and guiding staff in the HR people cycle, on-boarding new managers and training new leadership processes and HR systems, and improving the general capabilities of staff locally.
Suitable applicants for this job will need to show significant experience in an HR business partner capacity, within an international organisation. Strong relationship-building skills and proven experience of implementing HR change projects are also required. Experience working across both the private and the public sectors would be advantageous. Fluent English and Vietnamese communication skills are needed.
