Working hours Eight contact teaching hours
Annual leave 35 working days per annum plus Vietnamese public holidays (currently ten days per year). Senior Teachers’ leave is usually defined by the academic calendar, with longer breaks usually at Christmas, Tet and in the summer.

Role overview

British Council in Ho Chi Minh City is seeking an Academic Operations Manager to take the lead on ensuring effective and compliant academic management of Young Learner (YL) teaching programmes and services at British Council in Le Quy Don branch in HCMC. 

This is a new post at Senior Teacher level that will allow the successful candidate to demonstrate and enhance their experience in both academic leadership and operational management, working as part of a larger team in a highly successful Teaching operation.

Your experience to date will combine excellent teaching experience with effective teaching centre administration, quality control, line management, and teacher development. Your skills will include the ability to feed into course design and implement and evaluate agreed academic policies and procedures. As a leader within the branch, you will also liaise with others to ensure smooth operations, excellent customer service, effective value-added events, child protection and health and safety. 

You will need to work both independently and as part of a wider team and have the ability to work effectively with varied stakeholders with challenging agendas.

As a branch lead and as part of a large, country-wide teaching centre management team, the successful candidate will also gain opportunities to be involved in product and business development, and marketing. Furthermore, our teachers are offered regular training opportunities through TYLEC, Trinity Diploma, and our in-service training programme, and the expectation is that the Academic Operations Manager will act as a tutor on the Trinity courses, as well as coordinating the in-house training schedule. You will teach up to eight hours per week, scheduled or as cover, and will be expected to work evenings as well as weekends.
